Wine glasses adding style to your drinking habits

Wine has always formed part of celebration, but have you ever thought that a careful selection of wine glasses before you plan to throw a party can actually add glamour and style to your drinking habits.

Yes! Even if you have the costliest wine ready, it will not serve the purpose. As without proper selection of glassware for your wine, you and your guests will not be able to enjoy that rich taste of wine. Therefore, it is advisable to select the glasses as per the type of wine you are planning to include in your drinks list.

There are four types of glasses used to serve wine; these are white, red, sparkling and dessert glasses. The nomenclature of these glasses is as per the type of wine served in to each glass. For example, red wine tastes best when you drink it in a red wine glass. In fact the designing of these glasses directly adds to the taste of the wine. As the shape of the glasses, directs the wine to exactly that part of the mouth where it tastes best. Say for example a long and not so heavy bottom glass is perfect for serving red wines so that it can direct the wine to the backside of the mouth where it has the taste buds for that kind of tastes.

Wine glasses have mainly three parts like a base to help the glass stand upright, a stem to help you hold the glass without hindering the actual view of the wine and a bowl to serve wine. A little difference in the shapes of these three parts makes it suitable for various types of wines. For example if you see glass for white wine it has to be of u-shape while the glass for serving sparkling wine is usually flute shaped. Meanwhile the glass material can be of blow glass or even crystal glass depending on your preferences.
